Hannah McCarthy, M.A.
Doctoral Intern

Hannah McCarthy is a doctoral intern specializing in psychotherapy and psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. With a master’s degree in clinical psychology, she has extensive experience working with clients across the lifespan in hospitals, universities, community outpatient centers, and private practice. Hannah is dedicated to helping individuals manage challenges that impact their daily lives, relationships, and overall well-being. She has experience treating anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders, mood disorders, executive functioning difficulties, trauma, and disordered eating behaviors. Additionally, she assists individuals in navigating life transitions, exploring identity, and addressing relationship concerns.
In her therapeutic practice, Hannah places great importance on fostering a safe and collaborative environment. She believes that therapy is a partnership where the client’s personal goals are prioritized, and treatment is tailored to meet these objectives. Hannah employs a diverse array of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, exposure therapy (including exposure and response prevention for OCD), mindfulness techniques, play therapy, and acceptance-based strategies, to help clients understand and transform the relationship between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Hannah earned her master’s degree from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in clinical psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s Washington D.C. Campus. Outside of the office, you can find Hannah playing with her dogs, creating artwork, exploring the DMV’s natural beauty, playing video and board games, and enjoying time with family and friends.
