Amit Hickman, MSW

Master of Social Work

Amit Hickman is a supervisee in social work currently completing her post-master’s clinical residency toward becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia. She earned her Master of Social Work from George Mason University, along with a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Early Childhood Education.


With over 20 years of experience working with children and families, in non-profit settings, she brings a deep understanding of development, relationships, and family systems into her clinical work. She specializes in working with adults, couples, and families and is certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), supporting parents of young children (ages 2–7) in strengthening attachment and improving behavior through evidence-based strategies.


Her clinical work focuses on supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, and life transitions. She also works closely with couples to improve communication, rebuild connection, and navigate conflict with greater understanding and intention. Drawing from a person-centered foundation, she integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic insight, and practical communication tools to meet each client’s unique needs.


Amit enjoys reading, walking her dog, traveling and spending time with her husband and three teenage children.
