Dr. Thuan Nguyen is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in trauma and psychological assessments. She performs psychological assessments for all ages. In addition to current and past training in psychodiagnostic, psychoeducational, and trauma focus therapy, Dr. Nguyen has trained as a generalist practitioner.

She has experience with a diverse range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, and behavioral disturbances. Dr. Nguyen has worked in urban and rural settings in private practices and Children National Medical Center as a psychology consultant, focusing on the impact of chronic illness on children and their family. In addition to assessments, Dr. Nguyen offers Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) informed care, and Family Systems focused therapies at FMHW.

Dr. Nguyen recently completed her doctoral internship at Fairfax Mental Health and Wellness, an APA accredited internship program focused on evidence-based care. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Virginia, and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology. She also earned a certificate in Trauma Focus Therapy for children.
In addition to English, Dr. Nguyen is fluent in Vietnamese.
