Kendyl Durham, PMHNP-BC
Kendyl Durham is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) licensed in Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina. She treats ages 10-65 with a wide variety of psychiatric conditions and has a special interest in Bipolar Disorder, OCD, and military families.
Rather than a total cure, Mrs. Durham views medication as a tool for symptom reduction and management. Through a partnership with patients, she helps identify the symptoms that are most distressing, define treatment goals, and create treatment plans (both medication and non-medication) to meet those goals. Her appointments focus on making patient education easy to understand, so patients and families can evaluate the risks and benefits and feel confident about their medication.
Mrs. Durham earned her Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and her Master’s of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. Before healthcare, her background was in neurofeedback and neuroscience research. She is splitting time between FMHW and a partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient program. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and playing tennis.
